News post – Catch-23 No. 913 – Now re-entering Stars Hollow

We’ve entered a new golden age of television – shows no longer have to stay gone and companies like Netflix are not afraid of taking risks. Giving Gilmore Girls the farewell they deserve is not a big risk, and it has turned out brilliantly. The cast is all back and everyone gets a chance to do their thing. If you’re a fan, get onto Netflix and check out the 4 new episodes. If you’re not a fan, there’s a cure: all seven original seasons are also on Netflix.

News post – Catch-23 No. 912 Not the Cold War

Now that Trump has won the election (but losing the popular vote by at least 1.5 million), the blame game is well and truly under way. I’m not convinced that the email and DNC hacks really lost it for Hillary – if Trump didn’t have those things to hammer the Democrats with, he just would have used something else.

News post – Catch-23 No. 911 Trumpression

Ouch. I thought I felt bad when Tony Abbott was elected Prime Minister in Australia, but President-Elect Trump feels a million times worse.

The day it was announced that Trump had won, the financial markets plummeted in a way not seen since September 11, 2001. In an odd coincidence, this is my 911th comic strip.

The most worrying thing isn’t what I think Trump will do – that would require him to actually follow through on something ever. No, the most upsetting thing is that all the us-vs-them, racist, misogynist, homophobic and anti-intellectual guff that was expelled from his Trump-hole during the election found willing ears out in America. Trump, despite having no political experience, did what actual politicians do: he told the people what they wanted to hear. The troubling part is that they wanted to hear this kind of thing in the first place.

By the time next week’s strip comes out, there will be a new President-Elect in the United States. Polls are saying it’s even right now, but there’s a few commentators that ‘always pick the presidential result‘ tipping Trump to trip over the finish line in first place.

The ‘darkest timeline’ refers to a running storyline in the sitcom Community – a Trump Presidency is a clear indicator that we are in fact living in the darkest timeline of all.
