News post – Catch-23 No. 861 ‘Alex the Hipster’ Part 2

Kate is not a fan on the Ned Kelly beard, or any of the hipster attributes Alex has been cursed with.

News post – Catch-23 No. 860 ‘Alex the Hipster’ Part 1

And now you know how people become hipsters. I made this comic strip a couple of months back but I’ve kept it in the back pocket while other more topical topics needed the attention first.

News post – Catch-23 No. 859 Define ‘animal’

As the strip says, unfortunately, this is a true story. Our cats are indoor cats, but a few times a week they go into the yard for some rolling on the warm ground and eating all the grass they can. One cat loudly announced she wanted to come inside. I let her in, she stepped inside and then up came the grass. Then, while I was getting this cleaned up, she went five more steps and got rid of the rest of the grass. When I questioned her about why she saved this for inside the house, she remained silent on the subject.

News post – Catch-23 No. 858 Hotdogs, fava beans and a nice chianti

The World Health Organization has angered bacon-lovers with their report that says bacon and processed meats may be as carcinogenic as smoking cigarettes. Don’t try and find solace in a hotdog – a recent study found 2% of them contain human DNA. The study doesn’t elaborate, so we might be talking about some skin cells or actual body parts, but in this case it’s possible that you are what you eat.

News post – Catch-23 No. 857 That Escalated Quickly

Applying the phrase to an actual moving staircase seemed like the thing to do. Also, why don’t we call the down escalators ‘de-escalators’ or ‘descolators’? Same with elevators – both mean ‘to go up’ but we use the same name whether they’re going up or not. English makes no sense.

Also, PAX AUS 2015 just wrapped up and I had a ball. I was very lucky and got to try out virtual reality astronaut sim Earthlight on the HTC Vive and let me tell you this stuff is the real deal. I may have been in a noisy exhibition hall, but I was in SPACE, like Sandra Bullock in Gravity.
