Jurassic World is out on DVD & Blu-Ray, so we watched it and now I know why Chris Pratt was working so hard on the press junket.
The dinosaurs looked great, of course, and Chris Pratt and the cast did their best with what they had, but man. That script. So clunky. I don’t understand. There are people who fix scripts for a living – script doctors. Send the script to one of them before you start shooting and just get it fixed. Cut 5 seconds of velociraptor and spend the money on the character development.
The cold weather is giving way to warm weather and the pets are shedding mountains of fur. No amount of brushing seems to make a dent in the fur blizzard, so hopefully we’re nearing the end of the seemingly infinite hair pile.
The Martian, the new Matt Damon film, got some unexpected praise this week as apparently some people have been asking if this movie is based on a true story.
For the record, it isn’t.
When NASA announced they found water on Mars, I pictured some sort of oasis that was somehow missed on all the previous images, satellites and Mars Rovers. The actual discovery – brown patches where water probably flowed recently – is definitely exciting but I don’t see it being able to support a bunch of brave Mars explorers any time soon.
